Richfield Bloomington Honda wins 2021 business of the year at the Chamber of Commerce gala.

Timothy Carter & Jeff Wood of the Tom Wood Automotive Group representing Bloomington Honda at Friendship Village collecting Richfield’s Chamber of Commerce’s 2021 Business of the Year.

Many of you are familiar with the Honda building built like a parking garage on the north side of 494 between 35W and the airport. After the event I wanted to snap some pictures of the building with the Mavic 2 Pro. That plan was going fine until just after take off, when the drone lost communication with the controller and decided to land on the windshield and crash.

I volunteer at these events and try to deliver timely high quality media. I circle around the room getting to know people snapping pictures as I go. Friendship village has an amazing common area and it features lots of sunlight and that was the location for this year's “Circle of Excellence.”

Meeting cool and interesting people like Jeff Wood is a prime example of why I love doing events like this. Working the crowd with a camera can be exciting and a little scary. Murphy’s law waits around every corner so you need a very flexible process. For this I use the OODA loop to advance and problem solve as I go.

The F-16 is the expression of the OODA loop, mechanically speaking. Light weight, limited role and tight turns with more thrust than weight. I’d say my favorite fighter is the F-16 (not hands down, but damn close). The thing is a marvel. You almost can’t defend yourself from one.

So that's where Jeff Wood falls into focus. After 20 years of flying the F-16 and some time as  Thunderbird pilot; it's no wonder Bloomington Honda wins business of the year here in Richfield.
